[すっご—-い!] intensifies

Yes, a flat moveout was done and quite a few things were amiss. So that’s my reason for not going here…again.

Still, there are some things worth sharing, though it’s definitely taken the KemoFure route for whatever reason. The even sillier part is that I haven’t even started season 2 yet, despite its initial run being finished. :U Maybe all this is planning for something.

Images are sorted in chronological order.

"Who are you calling a tanoshii neophyte?"

Untitled (Kyururu mistakes)
Jan 2019.
Watercolour pencils + India ink.

A Kyururu sketch where the ink wasn’t handled well, especially on the arms…. The covering of her left eye adds a sinister angle that I like, on the other hand.

"You can never be too well-armed!"

Untitled (Mimi)
Late Feb 2019.
Fountain pens and colour pencils.

One of many drafts of Friends with weaponry. It’s probably background research for an idea or something.

WE ARE HERE TO PROTECT YOU FROM THE PARK, NOT THE PARK FROM YOU.

UP AND RUNNING, FRIEND!
Early Mar 2019.
Fountain pens + coloured pencil.

Another day, another KemoFure character with modern-day weaponry.

Various Kaban mugshots
Mar 2019.
First two: Watercolour, India Ink, white acrylic paint.
Last on right: Fountain + brush pen, coloured pencil.

A few mugshots drawn to figure out what sort of expression and hair length would work best. I’m finding the last one the most optimal, save for the expression.

Ik voel me “WAKARAN!” (I feel like I don’t get it!)
Mar 2019.
Left: Fountain pen + coloured and graphite pencil, white paint marker.
Right: India ink, water-soluble marker, white acrylic paint.

Silly material experiements with paint markers and whatnot, thought of as ways to mitigate unwanted stray ink and add highlights. It wasn’t exactly successful here, as they both stand out too much in their respective works, but I can see it handy if either used sparingly, or in an ink-only variant.

Metal Sugoi: Super Tanoshii-001
18-21 Mar 2019.
Emulator snapshot (background), Krita (initial portraits), GIMP (pixel art, base file, post-processing), GrafX 2 (palette reduction), Paint.NET (CRT version effects).

This came to mind whilst messing around with older games, and the idea seemed amusing enough to try and go all-out. It probably would’ve been more consistent if I chose to just draw everything (including background), but I felt the need to attempt the highly-detailed Metal Slug pixel art style. Image was doubled in resolution to make it friendlier with high-DPI displays.

The left version was previously released on Twitter, whilst the right one was a silly joke attempt at adding a faux CRT effect to the image.

Also, I pick Kyururu. 😛

Vote El Jefe...or else!
Never fear! “Lucky” El Jefe is here!

Japarico
Late Mar 2019.
Water-soluble markers, brush pens, too much white acrylic paint.

“Vote ‘Lucky’ El Jefe, or else!”
“El Jefe! The Friends are starving; grow more food and Japari Buns, quickly!”

I suppose the image is timely, given Tropico 6 released recently.

The use of markers was not planned, but I think it turned out better than I expected, bar some structural issues (what’s with those hands, anyway?). That paint marker really stands out, and not in a good way mostly.
